When photographer Jayne Parker left New York to spend a year in the Lowcountry, she knew she couldn’t build a proper client base in that brief time – she specializes in portraits – but she wasn’t about to sit around twiddling her thumbs, either. Not when her husband Arthur would be spending his days in historic downtown Beaufort, renovating one of the city’s most celebrated houses.

Each year, the Photography Club of Beaufort encourages all local high school and home schooled students to submit their very best nature photograph in a competition created to honor the memory of Dale Westcott. 

Since 2000, Art League of Hilton Head has awarded an annual scholarship in the amount of $2000 to a graduating high school senior who is studying or living on Hilton Head Island and attending a local high school. This year the applicants who were interviewed were of such high caliber that Art League awarded two scholarships of $1,250 each.
