Opening on Febraury 29, Beaufort Art Association presents "By The Sea," a joint exhibit of fine jewelry and photography by two of the Lowcountry's finest artists, Barbara Miller and Robert Ryzner. The two-month exhibit runs from Monday, February 29, through Saturday, April 30. Opening Reception is Friday, March 4, from 5:30 to 7:30. The public is invited. The work of over 60 other local member artists will also be on exhibit.

Beaufort Art Association’s 55^th Annual Spring Show will take place from Friday, February 26 through Monday, February 29 at a brand new venue this year – Tabby Place in Downtown Beaufort on Port Republic Street. Local artists will present their finest works for exhibit and for sale during the show. Oils, acrylics, watercolor, photography, mixed media, pottery, woodturning, stained glass and much more. Fine art jewelry has been added this year. Admission is free. Public is invited.

It’s been a few seasons now since we’ve grown a garden for our own produce at the farm. There was a time when we grew sweet corn, butter beans, purple hull peas, lettuce, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, okra, collards, kale, strawberries, native grapes, herbs. We’d often experiment with trying new varieties or new crops altogether, sometimes adding them to the regular list of crops planted.

I hate cleaning.

            My friend Alicia finds it therapeutic; the sweet swish of the dishwasher, the sturdy turn of the dryer, the glitter of a freshly scrubbed sink. These are the sounds and sights of accomplishment.
