A very special gallery exhibit has been created by Diane Britton Dunham and Natalie Daise to celebrate What it Means to Be Free: Art of Women of Color. The art exhibit is inspired by The Room: Stories and Songs for Free Women, by Sara and Natalie Daise. It features the work of women of color, exploring the meaning of "freedom" in different mediums.
Art League welcomes featured artist Kendra Natter, whose show Photographic Journey of the Lowcountry is a reflection of Natter’s ever-evolving photography and digital arts. Natter is an active board member of the Camera Club of Hilton Head Island. The natural environment of the Lowcountry has been a regular theme of her work.
Carvell Island Time Gallery Celebrates Grand Opening

Join Peggy Carvell and gallery artists on March 6th from 5 – 8 pm for an evening of wine, sweets and live music by festive musician, Bonita Wreden to celebrate the opening of the Carvell Island Time Gallery. Located at 103 Charles Street (marina side) in downtown Beaufort, the gallery showcases a diverse spectrum of fine art that seamlessly merges the color, texture and organic work of the artists Peggy represents.

There is a moment in Martin Scorsese’s period epic Gangs of New York where Daniel Day Lewis’ Bill “The Butcher” Cutting is confronted by Jim Broadbent’s Boss Tweed for his very public murder of the local sheriff. The lord of the Five Points may be a homicidal maniac, but he is a man of principle who long ago cut out his own eye to prove his self-worth. He’s slicing up a steak with a very sharp knife, seething in rage. The tension is palpable as Tweed declares, “You don't know what you've done to yourself!” Bill glares up at him then slowly taps his glass eye with the point of his blade. Tink, tink, tink, tink, tink...
With each iteration, the Beaufort International Film Festival continues to grow and evolve as word spreads and buzz builds around the festival circuit. Once again we reached out to a cross section of attending filmmakers and asked them to participate in a short Q&A to get a sense of what to expect.
