I was driving down Ribaut Road the other day and almost had to pull over when a sudden flashflood of tears nearly blinded me.

   The source? Stevie Nicks on the radio, singing lyrics I’ve heard a thousand times.

This September, Art League Gallery will host Island Treasures, an exhibit of original paintings by Hilton Head native Addison Palmer. Palmer's award-winning work focuses mainly on landscapes and animals—both wild and domestic—and largely features the beauty of the Lowcountry. His style ranges from clean-lined depictions in bold colors to serene landscapes and skyscapes using a minimal color palette. 

After many years of being packed away and brought out only every other year for the Sea Island Quilters biannual show, “The Lowcountry” quilt has a temporary home in Beaufort City Hall.

Though the exact date of the origin of meditation is unknown, archaeologists and scholars agree that the practice has been around for at least 5,000 years. Chances are slim that anything without credibility would have survived for that length of time.
