Right up the road from Beaufort, Charleston’s International Arts Festival continues to dazzle.

Held in historic Charleston, SC, May 25 –June 10, Spoleto Festival U.S.A., a tapestry of performing arts, has myriad genres. Pick your favorites. As always, Spoleto is a bacchanalia of international offerings, some classic, others way out there. It showcases nationally and internationally acclaimed artists in a distinctive program of opera, theater, dance, physical theater, music, and visual arts.

Classic Boat Rally offers small boat sailers adventure and a unique racing format... along with some really good parties!

The seventh annual Classic Boat Rally, a race in the Intercoastal Waterway from Savannah Ga. to Beaufort, S. C. was run this past April 20 and 21. The race, which is open to “sailboats of classic design having an overall length of 15 to 24 feet,” this year drew six entries, four of which were Marshall Sanderling catboats.

It's that time of year again – Blueberry Season! South Carolina summers bring ripe blueberries to roadside stands, farmers’ markets and local grocery stores.  Round and smooth-skinned blueberries are juicy and sweet.  Cultivated blueberries comprise the majority of those that reach the market and the season can span from May through October. 

The first time I read the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, I was struck by the similarity of the sutras and the Beatitudes.  As the nuns taught me growing up, the eight Beatitudes of Jesus provide a way of life that promises salvation, but also provide peace and help us to survive the trials and tribulations we must face here on earth.  Each sutra, or thread, contained a shred of wisdom, that if put into action, could bring the practitioner inner peace and happiness.
