Habersham's inaugural Bottles and Barrels weekend rolled out to enthusiastic crowds of Lowcountry foodies June 14 and 15th. This Southern Living Inspired Event showcased fine wines, craft brews and farm-to-table cuisine prepared by top-tier local chefs.

The painting on our cover is "Stepping Out Blues Man" by visual artist, poet and performer, TJ Reddy. The York W. Bailey Museum at Penn Center will showcase a collection of Reddy's paintings from June 28 - July 26. The public is invited to meet the artist at a reception from 6 - 9 pm on Saturday, June 28. It ain't easy writing a column from a high-rise condo in Myrtle Beach while attending a family reunion. This festive get-together has been happening every summer for as long as I can remember, and with almost 30 people in attendance – ranging in age from 8 months to 75 years – it's not particularly conducive to contemplation. Or concentration.

Ever notice how the perfect scarf or piece of jewelry makes a simple little black dress look outstanding? I was reminded of that this past week as I visited all five lovely gardens on the recent Garden-A-Day tours sponsored by the Beaufort Garden Club.
