Pulitzer Prize Winners to Headline Conroy Festival

The third annual Pat Conroy Literary Festival will be held in Conroy’s beloved Beaufort, South Carolina, this November 1–4. Presented in partnership between the nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center and the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Center for the Arts, this year’s festival will address a trio of foundations central to Conroy’s writing life, and indeed to all of southern literature and culture: Faith, Family & Friendship.
The Beaufort International Film Festival Eyes Another Landmark Year

This February will mark my tenth consecutive Beaufort International Film Festival. Well, sort of. Truth be told, I’d have to drop a big, fat asterisk by the 2018 event. I made it to the opening gala, reconnected with old friends from previous festivals and made enough connections with the new crop of filmmakers to get the sense that something truly special was about to unfold.
Linda Hilts’ “Sea to Shining Sea and Places in Between” will feature her favorite art mediums — watercolor, acrylic and pastel — during an exhibit from Nov. 5- Dec. 1 at The Society of Bluffton Artists gallery, located on Church Street in Old Town Bluffton. An opening reception is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. Nov. 11 at the gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
The Sea Islands Center Gallery at the University of South Carolina Beaufort is pleased to present an exhibition featuring the work of sculptor and installation artist Jarod Charzewski, currently on display through November 2nd.
The Artists of Palmetto Bluff, a collection of professional and semi-professional painters, potters, photographers and jewelry makers from Bluffton’s vibrant coastal community, will open three gallery days at 64B Boathouse Street in Wilson Village, Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton this fall. The public is invited to attend.
USCB Chamber Music: New Season, Same Old Excellence

USCB Chamber Music is about to begin its 39th season. Five Sunday concerts with five different instrumental combinations will feature 14 performers playing the music of 22 composers ranging across a period of 250 years. Strings and piano predominate with clarinet and guitar being featured on one concert each.
