Conroy Center Will Unveil New Pat Conroy Portrait by Susan Graber
Art
The nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center will unveil an original portrait of beloved southern writer Pat Conroy (1945–2016) on Friday, December 7, at 5 pm, the same evening as Beaufort’s annual Night on the Town. Portrait artist Susan Graber was commissioned to paint the portrait of Conroy, which will hang in the Conroy Center’s new and expanded location at 905 Port Republic Street in downtown Beaufort. The portrait unveiling event is a free public event with light refreshments.
The painting on our cover is new work by Rebecca Davenport, who'll team up with Kimberly Shapiro for the exhibit 'Juxtapositions' at USCB Center for the Arts, November 16 - December 16. Meet the artists at a reception on Tuesday, November 20 from 5:30 -7 pm. For more information, visit www.uscbcenterforthearts.com

When Bernadette Guimarin of Placerville, CA popped into Beaufort River Glass on Bay Street and met owner Jennifer Wenk, it was a meeting of kindred spirits.
“I have a tendency to converse with most people willing to engage in my shop,” says Jennifer, “and Bernadette happened to be one of them. We got talking about spun glass and she asked if I had any. I said no. One thing led to another and she revealed what she does for a living and the nature of the business. I was terribly intrigued and completely got their mission.”
