USCB Center for the Arts and Emerging Pictures partner to bring independent and foreignfilms, documentaries and ballets to Beaufort community
The University of South Carolina Beaufort Center for the Arts (CFA) is proud to be joining the Emerging Pictures network of cinemas to bring a whole new variety of year ‘round entertainment to the Beaufort community.
Pulitzer prize winner Tony Horowitz will discuss his new book about this mysterious historical figure at USCB’s Lunch With Author Series.
Stories and songs abound about the Civil War. Children chant the ditty, “John Brown’s body lies a smoldering in the grave…” But who was John Brown? How much do we really know about this mid-western farmer who, with 18 men, was the point-man who fired up the War Between the States, the War of Northern Aggression, the War for Southern Independence or ‘the war that never seems to end.’?
On October 22nd beautiful historic downtown Beaufort will celebrate Artwalk. From 7pm to 9 pm the Guild of Beaufort Galleries will welcome everyone with wonderful original works of art and refreshments.
“Patsy Cline has always been my singing idol,” says Maggy Norden, who plays the country legend in “Always…Patsy Cline,” opening October 7 at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Center for the Arts.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Tim Rice andAndrew Lloyd Webber, will be presented at The Baptist Church of Beaufort on Friday, September 30 at 7pm and Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3pm and 7 pm. Tickets are $10 for General Admission and $5 for seniors and children under 12.
This year’s series will offer works by composers from Mozart to John Novacek, and prize-winning artists like soprano Hyunah Yu and the genre-defying string quartet, Brooklyn Rider.
The University of South Carolina Beaufort Festival Series will open its 33rd season on November 6, 2011. The season will include five early Sunday evening concerts from November through April at the USCB Arts Center. Artistic Director and cellist Edward Arron will welcome new and returning talents for musical programs that will ensure the Series’ continued reputation as one of the most distinguished musical offerings in the Savannah—Hilton Head—Beaufort and Charleston area.
