Beaufort is a town famously steeped in history, chock full of national historic landmarks and other distinguished legacies. Having recently celebrated our city’s Tricentennial, we shouldn’t be surprised that someone’s always marking one significant milestone or another around here. Among them, this year, is the congregation of First Presbyterian Church, which has – as of 2012 – officially been in existence for 100 years.

Author and speaker Jodie Randisi is presenting a DO THE WRITE THING Creativity Workshop on Thursday, May 17th, at the Technical College of the Lowcountry from 1 – 3 pm.
Life-size oil paintings of “Goddesses in World Cultures” will be featured all summer (June 1 – September 1) at the Bluffton Branch of the Beaufort County Library System, 120 Palmetto Way, Bluffton. The work of artist and author Mary B. Kelly of Hilton Head, will display deities from Europe, Asia and the Americas. These also form the illustrations for Kelly’s book Goddess, Women, Cloth, published in 2012 and available on Amazon and Kindle.
The Beaufort Art Association will be presenting, “How I See It,” paintings by featured artist Mary Jane Martin from May 15 through June 23, 2012 at the BAA Gallery, 913 Bay Street. The exhibition will kick off with a free reception, open to the public, in honor of the artist on Friday, May 18, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
It’s no secret that Beaufort and its environs have inspired – and continue to inspire – a diversity of artists from all over the country, many of whom relocate just for the natural beauty. Now, Joan Templer, one of Beaufort’s most celebrated artists, has rallied the creative community and put together a new exhibition of paintings and photographs highlighting that distinctive beauty.
Landing that primo job with a corner office has long filled the daydreams of pencil pushers everywhere. The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina brings the fantasy to life with the hit musical, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, on stage through May 27 in the Elizabeth Wallace Theatre.
