Hunting Island Takes On Ted Turner’s Former Island Retreat

Remember that old line about never looking a gift horse in the mouth? Now, apply it to a gator and bug infested barrier island once owned by a flamboyant billionaire, with no development potential, critically limited access and resources and you’ve got the horse the state park system just handed over to JW Weatherford to whip into shape. Weatherford had barely broken in his desk as the new superintendent of Hunting Island State Park when, after months of top secret negotiations, the state’s prestigious new acquisition landed in his lap, as well.

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. is the soul and Sinatra-singing season six winner of NBC TV’s “America’s Got Talent." The former car washer's Columbia Records debut album produced by Grammy winner Steve Tyrell spent six weeks at #1 on the Billboard Jazz chart. Landau's follow-up holiday CD “Christmas Made For Two” raised thousands for the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia and received nationwide airplay including Sirius/XM’s “Holly” channel.

The Fiber Artists of Beaufort (FAB) will host a Holiday Sale at the Coastal Art Supply at 216 West Street, Beaufort from December 7 through December 9. Hours will be 12:00 am to 5:00 pm daily with an artists’ reception from 5 to 7 pm on December 7. The member artists will have items for sale that will make excellent Holiday gifts for the fiber lovers in your family.
