There’s a lot of painting going on in our neighborhood these days. People painting their houses, I mean. 

            A brown-stained “log cabin” down the street has just been transformed into a cream-colored lodge with pale turquoise doors and window frames. Meanwhile, the rusty red cottage next door – a work in progress – is slowly going periwinkle. 

         Take a walk with me (six feet apart!). Right up front I’ll tell you that this is not a power walk. Our goal is not to rack up 10,000 steps. Instead, our pace will be that of a good old fashioned lollygagging stroll. Let’s turn into Pigeon Point Park. Step off the sidewalk onto the crunch of the fine gravel path that meanders through the park among islands of gardenia, azalea, and hydrangea shrubs often quivering with busy butterflies and bees.

If we have to be “sheltering in place” there's no place better than the South Carolina Lowcountry. The spring weather has been beyond spectacular! Vince and I have spent most of our evenings cooking on the grill and eating on the deck. We've also been enjoying my salad, side dish and sweet treat experiments. I've recently been reminded just how nice it is to have a tupperware dish filled with a delicious something-something in the fridge to snack on. All three recipes this week are excellent sides with grilled foods and they're also great leftovers. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, my friends. And, be sure to Celebrate Everyday. xox

I suppose I should add armadillos, too. These are the creatures who make our lawns and gardens look like bombed-out battlefields. Especially if you have dogs who like to dig craters at their tunnels. I have four of those little guys that do and they like to sleep with me, too. No matter how often I brush or bathe them, I still have to vacuum my bed to remove the sand lest I have a nocturnal exfoliating treatment.  

No wonder I live alone.
