To stuff or not to stuff? That is the question.

       About the annual Thanksgiving turkey, that is. 

Dr. Daryl Ferguson is the Founder of the Santa Elena Foundation. The Spanish town of Santa Elena, located on a remote end of Parris Island, was first discovered in 1979 by Dr. Stan South of the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology. Ferguson, under the mentoring of Dr. Larry Rowland, did the research that proved Santa Elena was much more than the Spanish capital of La Florida.

Tuba’s back was sticky with sweat. His mouth was dry as every one of his senses concentrated on landing the plane. The F-14 roared across the stern of the carrier. Fourteen feet over the deck. Just where Tuba wanted it. Rosie’s eyes darted left. She could see the LSO platform zoom past her. Then the carrier’s tower on her right. The Tomcat slammed onto the deck. Tires screeched. The tailhook banged on the greasy metal deck sending sparks flying…

The ‘Pat Conroy at 70’ Literary Festival has finally come and gone. We talked it up quite a bit in this publication – for quite a while – and some of you might be all Conroy’d out by now. If so, I humbly invite you to turn the page. I won’t take it personally.

            Neither will Pat. He’s sick of himself, too.

            But I couldn’t let this weekend pass into history without sharing my impressions. ‘Cause, you know . . . that’s what I do. It’s a compulsion.
