On October 10, Shakespeare Rep, Beaufort's professional classical theatre company launches its Season of Wonders with the quirky contemporary comedy Almost, Maineat the USCB Center for the Arts. Almost, Maine is a study in contrasts: alternately funny and heartbreaking, it is about simple folks grappling with complicated matters of the heart.

The 15 artists of the Maye River Gallery in Bluffton will extend their “Hands Across the Bridge” to Hilton Head from October 1 thru November 30. The Coastal Discovery Museum will host the artists, who will be exhibiting in the Hilton Head gallery. (The Bluffton Gallery will remain open 7 days a week from 10 am – 5 pm.) The artists will meet and greet residents and visitors alike and share some of their insights in a series of artist’s demos throughout the two-month visit. In addition to the art featured in the gallery, visitors will see a display of photos showing the hands of the artists as they create their art.

The Society of Bluffton Artists presents “Foreign Affairs – Around the World in Art” by Virginia MacKenzie, a truly versatile and creative artist. The show will be on exhibit from October 6 through November 1 at the SOBA Gallery. As the name implies, all the works of art are depictions, along with stories, of some of the international destinations Virginia has visited.
The Photography Club of Beaufort recently announced the winners of their Fall 2014 semi-annual competition. Judges were Brian Glaze, assistant professor of studio art at USC-Beaufort; Nancy Rhett, well-known local artist and book illustrator; and professional photographer, Gary Geboy.
