Cecilia Wright, a Senior at Beaufort High School, was presented with a $1000 check at the Lowcountry Wind Symphony’s recent Spring Concert, ‘European Treasures’ at Sea Island Presbyterian Church.
The Holy City’s loss was Beaufort’s gain when Dr. Steve Rosenberg retired from his longtime position as Music Department chair at the College of Charleston and decided to move south.
“Living in Charleston, naturally I got to know Beaufort,” he says. “And I always considered it the most amazing and beautiful town in the US. I was ready for a new chapter in my life, so I decided to retire here and contribute to the cultural life.”
The Beaufort Academy Blue Notes, directed by Victor Varner, will present their Spring Show at 7 pm Thursday, May 2 at Tidal Creek Fellowship, 290 Brickyard Point Road South.
The Lowcountry Wind Symphony, under the direction of Donald F. Jemella, will partner with the Mary Green Chorale, led by Mary Woodmansee Green for the LWS Spring Concert, entitled ‘European Treasures.’
The final concert of USCB Chamber Music's 39th season takes place on Sunday, April 14, 5:00pm. It will be a riotous affair with music of salt and sea, meditation, brilliant virtuosity, sparkling colors, and one of the great crossover works of the 20th century.
A fundraiser for the newly formed Hilton Head Chamber Music Institute entitled “The Blakemore Trio” will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2019 at 7:30 pm to benefit student scholarships for the new program. The Blakemore Trio comprised of Carolyn Huebel, violin, Felix Wang, cello, and Amy Dorfman, piano, will perform Haydn, Schoenberg and Rachmaninov at HHSO SoundWaves.
