October 21, 1862. 4400 Union troops sail out of Hilton Head and up the Broad River. Their orders are simple: destroy the tracks and bridges of the Charleston to Savannah Railroad and land a hammer stroke to cripple the Confederate war effort. The next morning near Frampton Plantation, in what is now called Point South, they clash with a vastly outnumbered force of 675 Confederates. The Federals are held at bay until the Charleston Light Dragoons provide reinforcements.

Early December 2012. Once more the Blue and Grey meet in a thundercloud of gun smoke on the same field of battle - the sesquicentennial re-enactment of the original conflict. The historic event is sponsored by the Lowcountry & Resort Islands Tourism Commission and organized by the Palmetto Battalion.
