Farris has donated numerous Gullah Geechee paintings to help raise funds for the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island, in addition to designing their current logo. According to Farris, “As an artist, I feel it is important to preserve the enduring creative traditions and linguistic legacies of the Gullah Geechee culture in the Sea Islands.”
Recognized as a rising star, destined to take his place among great African-American artists, Farris’ works have been showcased both nationally, and internationally. He was named 2008 Artist of the Year at Historic Penn Center National Historic Landmark on St. Helena Island. He received his Masters of Fine Art in Painting and Bachelors of Fine Art in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
